Within South Africa’s tourism sector, there is a need for strategic initiatives that promote technological innovation to improve operational efficiencies, enhance personalized visitor experiences, drive sustainable tourism practices, and position South Africa as a leading global tourism destination. Developing and implementing emerging technology such as AI, IoT, robotics, big data, and blockchain could increase the competitiveness of the South African tourism sector, ensuring its resilience in the face of disruptions, such as global pandemics and climate change.
The Tech in Tourism and the Future of Work thought leadership seminar seeks to bring together industry experts, policymakers, academics, entrepreneurs, and students to discuss the role that emerging technologies can play in positioning South Africa as a global leader in tourism.
